Full description from organizerShow less
Go see a Texas made true indie film made in 5 days while also supporting the conservation efforts to protect Big Bend National Park. You're invited! What to expect: A laid-back vibe. A unique, intimate film + Mingle with the filmmakers before and after the screening. Presented by The Reel House Foundation. A Portion of the Proceeds benefit Big Bend Conservation Alliance. In the 80 minutes that is The End of Nowhere, you travel with Ella - played by Texan actor and musician Savannah Welch (known for The Good Doctor, Boyhood, and The Handmaid's Tale) - as she drives endlessly through the scenic, remote, high West Texas desert, in hopes she’ll witness the nocturnal optical phenomenon known as “the lights.” Estranged from her husband and searching for her lost daughter, Ella is on a mysteriously gripping, emotionally pure, and (ultimately) supernatural voyage of grief and healing. And it was all filmed in five days on a microbudget in Texas. “Shooting this movie in the West Texas desert over a total of five days was not easy,” said director Peter Mattei (The Outsiders). “But it was one of the best creative experiences ever. I wanted to collaborate with a bunch of real artists and make something kinda weird.” "I love that each time I watch this film, I notice new things and it invokes different emotions each time. The most rewarding part for me has been sharing this true labor of love with people and hearing their response to the film. Because it is an esoteric poetic experience, everyone forms their own personal connection to it, which may differ wildly from mine or anyone else's. Not all films can accomplish that."
