Kimberly Akimbo: A Staged Play Reading Directed by Catherine Gillet

Set in suburban New Jersey, Kimberly Akimbo is a hilarious and heartrending play about a teen with a condition causing her to age rapidly. Meet the Levaco Family! Kimberly Levaco is a typical snarky 16-year-old girl—except for one thing: She suffers from progeria, a disease that has been rapidly aging her since birth. She may be a teenager, but she looks like an elderly woman. As if teenage angst isn’t enough, her mom is a hypochondriac who is about to give birth, her hapless dad is a little too fond of the bottle, her ex-con, homeless and scheming aunt shows up with some sketchy ideas, and on top of it all, there’s Jeff, another misfit who befriends Kimberly. As she copes with her over-the-top family and comes to terms with her own mortality, she now faces the most terrifying experience of all: the possibility of first love. Note: Adult themes and language
