Sunday Morning Sit - Zazen

A quiet morning of Sōtō Zen meditation, open to all adults. Beginning September 6, we sit every Sunday. Whether you have sat for years or have never tried, you are welcome here. This is silent, seated meditation for adults. Please plan childcare so you can settle into the stillness. New to sitting? No experience needed, just come as you are. We meet inside the Cancer Survivors Park Center for Hope & Healing at 52 Cleveland Street, Greenville, SC 29601 (free parking in the public lot at 44 Cleveland), who have graciously offered to share their space. The morning:8:00 New student orientation, please arrive a few minutes early8:15 Zazen, begins promptly8:45 Kinhin, walking meditation (a good time to join if you miss the start of Zazen, or to leave if you need to)8:55 Zazen9:15 Brief dharma reading and conversation9:30 Dismissal A few simple things. Please arrive promptly, well before 8:15, so we can begin in stillness together. Shoes come off, phones rest in silence or in your car, and you will be gently guided through everything. Please lock valuables in your car. Nothing to prepare and nothing to memorize. There is no cost to sit with us. Newcomers, please give yourself time to settle in.
