Frequently Asked Questions Q: This is my first time pounding kalo, may I attend? A: Yes! Everything you need to ku'i will be provided. Q: I have my own board and stone, may I bring it? A: Yes! Just let us know on the Eventbrite order form that you are bringing your own board and stone. Q: How much kalo am I allowed to purchase? A: 1-2 pounds is a good amount for beginners, in order to allow everyone to purchase please keep to the limit of 8 lb per 'ohana. Q: Will I be refunded if there are changes to my schedule and I cannot attend the event? A: Unfortunately, due to the time and work put into cooking the kalo, all sales are final. No purchase is necessary if you would like to observe, just let us know on the Eventbrite order form that you are not purchasing kalo. Q: What is the Board and Stone class? A: The Papa me ka Pōhaku Board and Stone class is a 13 week program taught by Kumu Earl Kawaʻa where participants learn how to make their own papa kuʻi ʻai and pōhaku kuʻi ʻai. Email [email protected] for more info. Q: Why are there two sessions? A: Our parking lot has a limit on how many participants we can have at one time, we also have a limited amount of pōhaku kuʻi ʻai that we can allow participants to borrow.
