Tradewinds School Admissions Open House

Tour our Kaimukī campus, meet our Head of School and discover why Tradewinds could be a great fit for your gifted scholar. Children welcome. For parents who sense their child's mind works differently and want to understand what kind of education actually honors that difference. What Giftedness Means, and What Tradewinds Offers A conversation with Head of School Carl Sabatino and founder Andy Szybalski. Many bright children do well in school. Gifted children are something else entirely—they think faster, connect ideas others miss, and hunger for depth that typical classrooms cannot provide. They often struggle in otherwise excellent schools, not because the schools are failing, but because they weren't designed for minds like these. Bring the kids! While you tour and talk with our team, keiki can dive into a hands-on LEGO building activity led by Wrenn and Momo Okada — a Tradewinds open-house favorite. Join us to explore: • The difference between "schoolhouse gifted" and gifted—and why that distinction matters for your child's trajectory • What a specialized gifted program actually looks like, and how it differs from acceleration or enrichment • How Tradewinds is designed around no speed limits on learning, intellectual peers, and multiple paths through school • Whether Tradewinds might be the right fit for your family This isn't a sales pitch. It's a conversation for families trying to figure out what their child actually needs. Tradewinds School is Hawaiʻi's first school designed specifically for gifted learners, serving grades K–6. This event is for prospective families only. Educators and professionals interested in learning about Tradewinds, please reach out directly at [email protected].
