EVENT SCHEDULE First session: 11am – 12pm Second session: 1pm – 2pm Photo Walk: 3-4pm Nikon Counter Demo: 10am-5pm 11am – 12pm Session 1: Beyond the Pose: Creating Portraits with Intention Format: Lecture / Presentation Overview: A powerful portrait is more than a beautiful image; it’s a series of intentional decisions. In this class, Chloe takes you inside her creative process, exploring how she uses light, movement, composition, and human connection to create portraits that feel cinematic, emotionally honest, and distinctly her own. From finding inspiration to directing a subject in front of the camera, she'll share how she approaches building a world within a single frame. Topics Covered: • Developing a creative vision and personal photographic style • Creating mood and atmosphere through lighting and composition • Directing subjects naturally rather than relying on traditional poses • Using movement and connection to create compelling portraits • Behind the scenes breakdowns of Chloe's work, including Nikon gear choices, lighting decisions, and creative process 1-2pm – Session 2: Bend the Light, Break the Rules Format: Live Lighting Demonstration + Hands-On Shooting Overview: Discover how light can completely transform the mood and story of a portrait. Chloe will demonstrate how to create multiple editorial looks with one model through intentional lighting choices, creative direction, and simple adjustments. Topics Covered: • Understanding light direction, quality, and contrast • Creating soft, dimensional portraits using a single light • Using hard light and shadow for bold editorial portraits • Introducing accent lighting for a more cinematic look • Nikon camera settings, autofocus, and lens selection for portrait photography • Hands-on shooting opportunities for attendees to photograph the model and experiment with the techniques demonstrated Lighting provided by Profoto Nikon loaner gear will be available on a first come basis, (ID and Credit Card required) (remember to bring your SD memory card) Equipment: Nikon cameras and NIKKOR lenses, Profoto strobes and light modifiers. 3-4pm - PHOTO WALK: Overview: Join Chloe for a hands-on portrait photo walk where you'll get behind the camera and put creative techniques into practice. Photograph a live model while exploring natural light, composition, and subject direction.
