A Freed Woman's Generative Writing Retreat

Come to reset, ignite creativity, and create stories in the arms of sisterhood. The retreat includes four parts that will take place over 3 hours: The Reset, The Invitation, The Creation, and The Connection. The reset will include breathwork, meditation, and intention setting for the time allotted (20 mins). The invitations will include 3 short collaborative art experiences: a collective song, an art piece, and a traditional West African dance to open creative channels. Following collaborative art experiences, the writers will flow through a gallery of prompts to choose from for writing inspiration (40min). The creation will include 45 mins of writing time and 15 mins of editing. Connection will offer 30 minutes to share what was created and 30 mins to submit work to publication. A contact list of editors will be provided. This project is supported by funding from the Mississippi Arts Commission.
