Acting Techniques For Improvisers with Hollis Beck

Get ready to level up your improv game with some cool acting tricks from Hollis Beck. “I Don’t Feel Present Onstage” Meisner and Authentic Expression You’ve been told in coaching sessions and classes that effective improv comes from true connection with your scene partner – but why does listening to your teammates and responding authentically feel so hard? Sanford Meisner, one of the fathers of the American acting method, declared that “to be an interesting actor, you must be authentic.” In this crash course, we’ll take inspiration from the Meisner method to take pressure off yourself by cultivating complete focus in the person you’re playing with. Using techniques rooted in how you perceive the world and what draws your attention, you’ll begin to let go of how a scene “should” look and elevate your stage presence in a way only you can.
