The Admissions Machine: A College Admissions Event for Students & Families

WHAT'S THIS EVENT ABOUT? A former UC Berkeley admissions officer pulls back the curtain on how applications are actually read — the real criteria, the split-second impressions, and what separates a forgettable application from a memorable one. Then we'll show how the right technology can take the guesswork out of the process: finding schools that actually fit, strengthening your application, and staying organized from now through submission. It's part behind-the-scenes look, part practical playbook — an hour that will change how you approach the entire admissions process. Bring your questions for the live Q&A at the end. WHO SHOULD COME? - Students in grades 9–12 who want a real edge in the admissions process — the earlier you start, the more it pays off - Parents & guardians trying to understand what actually matters (and cut through the noise online) - Families just beginning to think about college, as well as those deep in application season - Anyone who's felt overwhelmed, behind, or unsure where to focus No prior admissions knowledge needed — just come curious. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN - How admissions officers really evaluate applications - What makes an application stand out - How to find better-fit schools, programs & financial aid - How to use technology + expert counseling effectively FEATURED SPEAKERS Feiyang Liu '17 — Former UC Berkeley Admissions Officer & Founder, Your Epic Consulting Nico Berlingeri — Founder & CEO, Momentum Labs & Former MIT Researcher Followed by an optional live Q&A.
