Jeremy Pelt Quintet

One of the preeminent trumpeters of his generation brings his quintet to The Side Door for a night of hard-swinging, modern jazz. Jeremy Pelt – Trumpet Mykhailo Mendelenko – Guitar Lasse Corson – Piano Leighton Harrell – Bass Jared Spears – Drums Jeremy Pelt was born in California in 1976 and began playing trumpet at age five, studying classical music and piano before a high school jazz band sparked a lifelong devotion to the music. He went on to study jazz improvisation and film scoring at Berklee College of Music, and forged an early bond with the Mingus Big Band that helped launch a career built on collaborations with some of jazz's greatest masters, including Jimmy Heath, Frank Wess, Cedar Walton, Ravi Coltrane, Nancy Wilson, and Bobby "Blue" Bland, among many others. He has also performed with the Roy Hargrove Big Band, The Village Vanguard Orchestra, and the Duke Ellington Big Band, and is currently a member of the Cannonball Adderley Legacy Band featuring Louis Hayes. As a leader, Pelt has recorded more than ten albums and toured globally with his various ensembles, earning him five consecutive Rising Star honors on trumpet from DownBeat Magazine and the Jazz Journalists Association. He has been featured in the Wall Street Journal by legendary jazz writer and producer Nat Hentoff, and JazzTimes has praised him as "a technical marvel" who "executes intricate solos with ease, plays gorgeous ballads in a tasteful manner, and never lacks flair or sensitivity." This is a rare opportunity to experience one of jazz's most respected trumpeters in an intimate setting. The Side Door Jazz Club is a dedicated jazz listening room located inside the historic Old Lyme Inn, 85 Lyme Street, Old Lyme, CT. Tickets are reserved seating. Guests dining at the Old Lyme Inn prior to the show receive 10% off their dinner bill.
