21st Annual Mid-Atlantic Hospital Medicine Symposium: Essentials of Hospital Medicine

Overview Come for a day of updates on the essentials of Hospital Medicine and comraderie with colleagues from around the country! Our Hospital Medicine conference provides the key content you need to expand your expertise in the most vibrant manner possible. Our keynote speaker, Vice Chair for Quality and Safety in the Department of Hospital Medicine at Ochsner Medical Center Megan Brooks will describe how patients with bacteremia can receive less IV antibiotics to facilitate a prompt and safe discharge. The Update in Hospital Medicine session will review the studies over the past year that have led to changes in management strategies. Other sessions will focus on recent guideline updates on the Management of Pulmonary Embolism, the ACC/AHA guideline on Acute Coronary Syndrome, Surviving Sepsis 2026, GI Bleeding, Hepatorenal Syndrome and much more on the core conditions in Hospital Medicine! Objectives At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to: Use authoritative guidelines and best evidence for the management of patients with acute coronary syndrome Apply 2026 ACC/AHA/SHM PE guideline to risk stratify and treat patients with acute pulmonary embolism Decrease number for days on IV antibiotics for patients with bacteremia to facilitate earlier discharge Initiate and titrate opioid analgesics for opioid naïve patients and patients on chronic opioids who present with severe pain Apply a structured approach to the evaluation and correction of hyponatremia and hypernatremia Accreditation The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
