She is the columnist for the award-winning environmental news outlet, Grist, where she writes the advice column “Ask A Climate Therapist.” Author of six books, two American Psychological Association (APA)-published guides for youth, her new book Transforming Climate Anxiety: A Workbook for Courage, Clarity, and Collective Action is the culmination of more than two decades of shaping the field of climate psychology. Leslie leads the Climate Psychology Certification program at the California Institute of Integral Studies, and advises organizations such as Post Carbon Institute. She brings audiences science, strategy, and heart to navigate eco-emotions for a more just world. Dr. Laura Carter Robinson is a leading eco- and clinical psychologist known internationally for her work at the intersection of climate change and mental health. A climate therapist, educator, consultant, and speaker, she is in the American Psychological Association’s Climate Change Psychology Advisory Group, has served on the executive committee of the Climate Psychology Alliance of North America, and has advised nonprofits and higher ed institutions. The author of a forthcoming book on psychological resilience in the climate crisis, and a prominent emerging voice in helping the public navigate the psychological challenges of climate change, she is passionate about catalyzing people to wake up to, embrace, and act on the importance of our belonging with the natural world and with each other.
