Endangered New York: Protecting Wild Animals in a Changing Climate

As climate change reshapes New York’s coastlines, waterways, and green spaces, how can we better protect the wild animals who live there? Rising temperatures, habitat disruption and loss, and extreme weather threaten the survival of certain species, while also affecting the lives of the individual animals within and beyond them. This panel brings together leading local conservation and advocacy organizations to examine the threats facing the region's most vulnerable wild animals, the challenges to the Endangered Species Act and the work to defend it, and how policies to protect at-risk species can also protect the many other animals who share their habitats. Together, they'll explore where efforts to protect biodiversity, animal welfare, and climate can reinforce one another — and where harder questions remain.
