Intro to Soft Solder: Mini Frames, Gems & Shells

Explore the vast, silver world of Soft Solder in this explorative, introductory workshop! If you're wondering WTF soft soldering even is... give this Pinterest board a peek to get an idea of the (endless) possibilities <3 You'll learn how to create texture and forms out of lead free solder, how to create spikes and dots, utilize temperature and timing to your advantage, clean your pieces, and stay safe in the process! You'll explore these new techniques on miniature frames, shells, gems, ceramics and colored glass pieces, leaving with a few of your very own soldered pieces. All materials will be provided. It will be a delightful few hours of creativity, learning & community. Complimentary bevs available, and snacks will be available for purchase. Please note: a signed waiver will be required to participate! See you there<3 About Your Instructor: Zoe Schwartz is an artist based in New York City. She’s an adjunct professor at the School of Visual Arts where she launched a Glass Department and teaches undergraduates and continuing education students. What can I expect from a workshop at RecCreate? Getting Here The venue is a ~hidden~ art studio located at 20 Grand ave in brooklyn on the 6th floor of a commercial building! When you arrive, buzz #604, push to open and take the elevator up to 6 (push the elevator button until it turns red.!!) Take a right out of the elevator, and a left at the end of the hallway. The door will be the first one on your right. Cancelation Policy Tickets are non-refundable/exchange-able! Please double check your calendar.
