From Nosferatu to Blacula, Twilight to What We Do In The Shadows, this lecture explores how vampires mirror society’s darkest desires—and how they’ve been reinvented by Black cinema, queer cinema, and everything in between. Come thirsty. Professor Isabella Tecson is an adjunct screenwriting, creative writing, and English professor at Queens College, and a creative nonfiction MFA candidate at CCNY. A former film critic for Asian Cinevue and a working script doctor for almost a decade, she has assisted on major documentaries and indie films with her “structure first, ego’s later” approach to screenwriting. Her recent autobiographical plays have been featured at major festivals across North America, and she brings a theatre-kid sense of humour backed by an extensive career of research and movie watching.
