Board Fiduciary Oversight: A Deeper Dive for Treasurers and Finance Committees

Serving as a Treasurer or member of the Finance Committee carries a heightened responsibility for understanding and ensuring the financial health and long-term sustainability of a nonprofit organization. Participants in this workshop will deepen their understanding of core fiduciary responsibilities while exploring how to set and support financial strategy in a time of change and uncertainty. Facilitated by Hilda Polanco, Practice Leader, Nonprofit & Grantmaker Advisory Services, from leading finance advisory firm, BDO, the session will cover cash flow management, reserve strategy, and how to partner effectively with staff leadership, as well as: Understanding and assessing revenue risk Guiding principles and practices for scenario planning Financial planning as a tool to managing windfall gifts and funding cliffs Understanding the “full cost” of programs and indirect cost recovery Alternative operating models and other strategies to support the sustainability of the mission Agenda: 8:30 AM — 9:00 AM: Coffee + Networking [Optional]9:00 AM — 11:00 AM: In-Person session [Facilitated by BDO] In-person session only.
