In this playful, eye-opening lecture, astrophysicist Dr. Jay White takes you backstage at the “cosmic ballet” to explore how energy and matter organize themselves, from quantum jitters to the beats of stars and the swirling patterns of galaxies. Along the way, you’ll see how mathematics helps us hear the universe’s hidden score, how patterns repeat across staggering scales, and how humor and curiosity drive discovery. Far from being distant and abstract, these cosmic rhythms shape the very elements that make us who we are, revealing a universe that’s less a static stage and more a living, evolving performance. Dr. White is the Founding Director of the Talcott Mountain Research Institute and a Resident Lecturer for Lectures on Tap in Manhattan. With more than three decades of experience as a researcher, professor, and science storyteller, he weaves together science, music, film, and everyday life to make the cosmos feel close, comprehensible, and deeply human.
