More Than One Story: The Many Faces of Latinadad

More Than One Story: The Many Faces of Latinidad brings together Latinx and Afro-Latinx authors, publishers, booksellers, educators, and creators for an honest conversation about identity, race, representation, and what it means to navigate the literary world while carrying identities that are often simplified—or left out of the conversation altogether. Together, we’ll talk about where Latinidad is represented fully on the page, where it gets flattened, and whose stories still aren't being given enough room. The Conversation Our roundtable will explore: • Race within Latinx communities • Colorism and anti-Blackness • Language and belonging • Representation in books and publishing • Family, culture, and expectations • Finding and creating community • Access, bias, and prejudice within the literary industry • Who gets to tell Latinx and Afro-Latinx stories—and which stories get amplified This isn't intended to be a perfectly polished panel where everyone agrees. It's a space for people with different experiences to sit together, ask questions, share perspectives, and have the conversations that don't always make it onto the page. Whether you identify as Latinx or Afro-Latinx, work in books or education, are a reader interested in these conversations, or simply want to listen and learn, you're welcome in the room. Because there isn't one Latinx experience. There are many identities, histories, languages, cultures, complexities, and stories. And they all deserve room on the page.
