Shifting Power: Young Women in Climate

Greetings Eco-Friends, This NYC Climate Week, please join us for a morning chat titled, "Shifting Power: Young Women" in hosted at Diane von Furstenberg Studios in partnership with Black Girl Environmentalist and EmpoderaClima. On September 25th, we will have an intimate morning chat illuminating some of the ways the climate crisis is shaping the lives and futures of women and girls. This conversation, collaboration with the DFV team, will follow the work that young women are leading in response, and what it transparently takes to sustain youth-and-women-led organizations at a moment of shrinking stability. Following the chat, we will transition into a sunrise hour where attendees may mingle and share reflections around the work they are doing to shape climate and the ways it is impacting each of us. This morning chat, will be led by Wawa Gatheru, Founder of Black Girl Environmentalist and Renata Koch Alvarenga, Founder of EmpoderaClima. Both leaders will share effective climate strategies they are building across the world in different communities. We will be joined by representatives from youth-led climate or social-impact organizations who will share insights into what it truly requires to be on the forefront of climate action and its consequences. In this convening, we invite all our guests and speakers to participate in an honest conversation about the financial and operational challenges that climate and social impact organizations are facing. This space is for purposeful conversations with environmentalists, social leaders, and aligned partners curious as to what meaningful investments in the next generation of empowered women leadership can look like.
