Through novels such as Raat Baaki Hai and Purnmashi, he articulated the aspirations, disillusionments, and revolutionary impulses of generations caught between tradition and change. Kanwal attempts to rediscover the man behind the words. The film travels through his village, his lived environment, his literary imagination, and the socio-political movements that shaped him. Through archival material, readings from his works, conversations with scholars, contemporaries, family members, and critics, the documentary constructs a layered portrait of a writer who remained deeply committed to the working class and agrarian struggles. The film is not a conventional biography-it is an inquiry into the relationship between literature and resistance, memory and ideology, soil and soul.
