Full description from organizer

Strategies for Supporting Neurodiverse Learners in Middle School (Grades 5-8) Are your students struggling with organizing materials, managing time effectively, completing homework, planning long-term assignments, or navigating digital work? Have you noticed an increasing number of students experiencing difficulties with attention, impulse control, and self-regulation during classroom instruction? These are just a few of the executive function (EF) skills essential for middle school success. This interactive, 1-day workshop equips middle school educators with practical insights and tools to strengthen students’ EF skills. By explicitly integrating EF instruction into the curriculum, teachers can foster stronger academic performance and more positive classroom behaviors. The workshop focuses on creating classroom environments that support EF development, designing educational spaces tailored to neurodiverse learning styles, and developing a scope and sequence for frontloading EF instruction in the first few months of the school year. Educators will leave with actionable strategies to improve attention, positive engagement, independence, and resilience, while strengthening key EF skills such as organization, emotional regulation, impulse control, time management, and problem-solving. Participants will: • Recognize signs of EF skill deficits and understand their impact on student learning and behavior • Explore tools and strategies that can be seamlessly integrated into daily routines and lessons • Discover effective methods for fostering EF skill development in students • Learn how to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students with varying levels of EF proficiency • Understand how to intentionally design learning environments that promote focus, engagement, and self-regulation • Collaborate in grade-level and cross-grade-level teams to support students’ long-term academic and personal growth AUDIENCE The intended audience for this program is Grades 5-8 Classroom Teachers and Administrators. By registering for this workshop, you will also be added to our mailing list to receive updates about future programs, resources, and events. You can unsubscribe at any time.
