Fall Foliage - Landscapes in Watercolors

Capture the colors of autumn in this beginner watercolor class. Sunday, November 15th from 9:00AM-4:00PM We will use photos of fall landscapes to learn a variety of watercolor techniques and how to work in layers. Wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry methods will also be covered. You will leave with a finished painting of the Maine landscape in fall. Beginners welcome! $125 workshop fee does not include materials. There is a materials fee of $15, payable to the instructor by Venmo or cash on the day of the workshop, or you can bring your own materials. We will have an hour break for lunch midday. The studio will be closed during this break, but there are nearby parks where you can eat lunch if you brought your own, or you can check out one of the local restaurants in the area. About the instructor: Audrey Robidoux is an artist and art teacher residing in Portland, Maine. She graduated from Maine College of Art & Design in 2021 with a Masters in Art Education, as well as in 2019 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting and a minor in Art History. She chooses to work in the medium of watercolor as a nod to botanical illustrations, and due to the technical challenge of it, the puzzle involved to create such a complex piece with layers and fine detail. Suggested Materials: • Watercolor paper, preferably 140 lb or better, and at least 9”x12” • Pan Watercolor set, preset or cured from tubes • Tray for mixing watercolors, like a white ceramic or plastic plate, or the tray that came with a pan set. This could be a flat surface or a tray with wells, whatever works best for you. • Assorted watercolor brushes, some bigger brushes and small detail brushes • Small Spray bottle • 1-2 cups for paint water • Masking or artist tape • Surface for taping your painting to, clip board, artist board, chipboard, etc. • Ruler • Drawing materials - preferably 2H or 4H drawing pencil but regular pencils work too, eraser • A few paper towels • Anything else you use in your usual watercolor set up
