Shift: Beneath

a communal ceremony of adaptogenic tea, embodied movement and stillness for feeling through what lives beneath words. Shift: Beneath is a communal ceremony for moving through the topsoil and into the depths of our experience beneath what language can describe. For anyone who moves through big transitions there is always something lost that is often not fully acknowledged. Living with grief can come in non-linear waves that can at times feel exhausting, consuming, and confusing and then.... something shifts and then it shifts again and again and again. That’s what this event is all about. It’s a process of untangling the complex emotions that keep us stuck and clinging to identities, beliefs, relationships, value systems, & comfort zones inherited from the overculture or former versions of ourselves. This evening is for expressing the raw materials of what’s present, not analyzing the story of why or figuring out how to fix. It’s a time to gather to be collectively in process, unfiltered. This is the place for exploring the liminal polarities of the blinding luminosity in complete darkness, the peace of mind beneath loud music, the deafening whispers of wisdom in pure silence, the way the mind stills while the body dances and when the body stills something much deeper shifts. We’ll gather at the altar allowing all that arises to be felt and expressed. Some things will be released and others loosened even just a little. We’ll set intentions with an adaptegenic tea ceremony, witness each other’s embodied expression, dance with parts that hurt and parts of joy. We’ll hear a collective vocal release, and end in a deep restful yoga nidra meditation to let all the dust settle and integrate in community.
