Saturday, September 19 | 1 PM- 3 PM Rhythm Seed Farm During this workshop, participants will be instructed in traditional rhythms from the Malinke tradition of West Africa. The cultural context in which each rhythm is used in traditional life will be discussed and participants will dive into the specific rhythmic patterns and how they interweave in the conversation of the song. As a group, we will sing songs born of the rhythms and explore their meaning and use in traditional settings. There will be open space at the end for questions about the drum, rhythm patterns and the culture as a whole. Drums will be provided, but feel free to bring your own drum, as well. All ages welcome.
