Full description from organizer

🌻 EVENT DETAILS: Weaving is one of humanity’s oldest technologies. Here in the Pacific Northwest, Indigenous peoples have worked with cedar since time immemorial, weaving its bark into baskets, hats, mats, clothing, cordage, and other objects of everyday and ceremonial life. 🧺 In this hands-on workshop, we’ll work with cedar bark and waxed cord to weave our own miniature baskets while exploring weaving as both craft and medicine. No weaving experience is necessary. Come ready to slow down, work with your hands, and weave something beautiful. 🌞 This event will take place outdoors at Kindness Farm. 🌲 FREE or By Donation! Pay what you can. No one turned away. 🍄 Please get your tickets here before the event! This really helps us with logistics and preparing for the event. 🚙 PARKING Please park on the farm side of the street anywhere up or down the street. Do NOT park on the grass across the street from the farm (you will see "No Parking" signs). This is important for safety vehicles to pass through. We reserve 2 driveway parking spots (in the gravel, on the right) for folks with accessibility needs. 🌼 ACCESSIBILTY INFORMATION Venue is not certified ADA accessible. The farm's bathroom is not technically ADA accessible, but has been used by folks with wheelchairs. The majority of the farm itself is accessible, though not all parts are (we have some narrow pathways). Note that we use woodchips for the majority of our pathways. 🐝 COVID-19 & Other Illness: If you’re feeling unwell, we kindly ask that you rest at home and join us another time. Masks are not required for this gathering, but you are encouraged to mask or distance in whatever way feels right for you. Jamani Ashé (she/they) is an Afro-Indigenous earth-tender, lineage weaver, and land-based educator. They are the founder and lead steward of Sankofa Roots, a land-based learning and healing organization rooted in cultural reclamation, earth-based ancestral knowledge, and community resilience. Through earth-based arts and hands-on learning, Jamani invites people to slow down, listen with their hands, and remember the wisdom carried in our bodies, our lineages, and the land. Their work is an offering toward remembering old ways, tending living traditions, and weaving ourselves back into relationship with one another and the Earth.
