ROCHESTER RAGING GRANNIES Rochester Raging Grannies is a local grassroots activist group of older women who use satirical songs, colorful costumes, and street theater to advocate for peace, social and economic justice, and a clean environment. The local chapter was founded in 2002 with a mission of singing out for human rights, LGBTQ+ liberation, immigrant justice, environmental protection, gun violence prevention, and local issues (such as school nurses and public libraries). They rewrite satirical, witty lyrics to well-known, familiar tunes and perform at local rallies, marches, public meetings, and community events across Western New York. They operate autonomously relying on consensus based decision-making. Membership is open to any woman of a certain age with a commitment to non violence, a sense of humor, and a sense of outrage. Website - Facebook - [email protected] MOUNT HOPE WORLD SINGERS Mount Hope World Singers seeks to build community and foster intercultural understanding through engaging, high quality, respectful performance of music in original languages from around the globe. The chorus is led by Artistic Director Annika Bentley, Conductor Brian White, and manager Kathleen Fraser. Mount Hope World Singers is a non-auditioned, fragrance-free community chorus based in Rochester, New York. They perform an incredibly diverse repertoire of world music traditions, which includes complex arrangements, irregular metrics, and unique vocal effects. They perform everything in original languages, ranging from Haitian and South African choral works to traditional Indigenous pieces. The choir actively aims to be accessible to singers who are blind, have low vision, or do not read traditional sheet music. Notable Recent Projects include The Hundred Windows (2025) and Bright Threads (June 2026). The choir welcomes new singers without requiring an audition.
