Join us for an honest, approachable, judgment-free conversation about perimenopause, menopause, and all the things nobody prepared us for. Maybe you’re still getting your period. Maybe you’ve never had a hot flash in your life. But suddenly you’re waking up at 3 a.m. for absolutely no reason. You can’t find words you have known your entire life. Your patience has left the building. Your body hurts in places that never used to hurt. You’re exhausted, anxious, bloated, itchy, forgetful, running hot, completely uninterested in sex… or some fun combination of the above. And mostly? You just don’t quite feel like yourself. If you’ve found yourself wondering, What the hell is happening to me? this night is for you. Join us at The Hive for Hot, Tired & Slightly Confused, an honest, approachable, judgment-free conversation about perimenopause, menopause, and all the things nobody really prepared us for. We’re sitting down with Dr. Sherrod Hamlin, DO, a Board-Certified Osteopathic Family Physician, Menopause Society Certified Practitioner, and founder of The Next Chapter in Penfield, to help us understand what is actually happening inside our bodies during the menopause transition and why it can affect so much more than our periods. We’ll talk about things like: • What perimenopause actually is, when it can begin, and why you absolutely do not have to be in your 50s to start noticing changes • The connection between hormones and things like sleep, mood, anxiety, brain fog, memory, energy, weight and body composition, joint and muscle pain, skin and hair changes, digestion, libido, vaginal and urinary health, and some of the truly bizarre symptoms nobody thinks to connect • Why so many women find themselves saying, “Something feels different, but I can’t put my finger on it” • What questions are worth asking your healthcare provider and how to better advocate for yourself when something doesn’t feel right • Treatment, support, and hormone therapy conversations, including some of the misconceptions and confusion surrounding them This is the kind of conversation we want women to feel comfortable actually having. The weird questions, the personal questions, the “is this normal?” questions, and the things you might text your best friend before you’d ever bring them up in an exam room. Dr. Hamlin will walk us through the science behind what’s happening in our bodies, while leaving plenty of space for real questions, honest conversation, and the things so many women are left trying to figure out on their own. Questions can be submitted anonymously, too, because sometimes we desperately need the answer while also having absolutely no desire to attach our name to the question. Fair. Whether you’re already navigating menopause, starting to wonder if perimenopause could explain why everything feels the same and somehow nothing feels the same, or simply want to understand what may be coming next, you belong in this conversation. No shame. No question too weird. No pretending we all have this figured out. Just good information, honest conversation, and a room full of women finally talking about the stuff we should have been talking about all along.
