Join the Mental Health Association of Rochester for an unforgettable afternoon of smashing, creating, connecting, and speaking up for mental health. Mental health stigma keeps people silent. It stops conversations before they begin and can make people feel like they have to face their struggles alone. Smash the Stigma is a high-energy community event designed to break down those barriers—literally and figuratively. Come smash a pumpkin, step inside the mobile rage room, enjoy local food and music, create something meaningful, and connect with people who believe mental health should be talked about openly and supported without judgment. Every ticket, donation, and sponsorship helps the Mental Health Association of Rochester provide a wide range of free, culturally responsive, peer-based mental health support throughout Greater Rochester. Through services like peer support groups, community resource navigation, creative wellness activities, and more, the MHA of Rochester supports individuals and families across Monroe county access the care they need to help them thrive. There Is More Than One Way to Smash the Stigma Mobile Rage Room Suit up, step inside, and release some energy in a professionally operated mobile rage room experience. Participants may be able to smash items including: • Glassware and breakable objects • Items marked with messages they are ready to release • Special VIP smash items To gain access to smash passes, you can donate or fundraise. Pumpkin Smashing Pick up a pumpkin, write down something you are ready to let go of, and give it one satisfying smash. Pie Smashing Step up for a playful pie-smashing experience featuring treats from a local bakery partner. Flash Temporary Tattoos Choose from event-inspired flash tattoos created by a local artist. Art, Zines and Creative Activities Express yourself through community art, interactive activities, zines, and other opportunities to share your story. Live Music and Entertainment Enjoy music throughout the afternoon from a live DJ. Local Food Grab lunch, a snack, or something sweet from participating Rochester food vendors. Community Resources Meet local organizations and mental health advocates while learning about programs, resources, and ways to get involved. Fundraise Your Way to a Smash Pass! Smash Passes are awarded based on the total amount raised through your fundraising page. You can also pool funds raised by creating a team fundraiser and redeeming prizes as a group. Create your own fundraising page and invite friends, family, and coworkers to support your campaign. Every donation made through your page counts toward your fundraising total—including your own. As you reach each fundraising milestone, you will unlock Smash Passes to use at the event: $50 raised = A Sticker $100 raised = A Standard Smash Pass $500 raised = A Group or Family Smash Pass for 5 People Your personal fundraising page makes it easy to share why mental health matters to you, track your progress, and rally your community around better mental health support and awareness. Whether you raise the full amount through donations from others, contribute toward your own goal, or combine both, every dollar supports the Mental Health Association of Rochester’s free, peer-based mental health programs.
