Teaching Self-Regulation at Home

Join disabled neurodivergent educator and learning consultant Calvin Eaton, M.S., for a practical, interactive seminar exploring how children develop self-regulation skills and how adults can support that development at home. Drawing from more than 15 years of experience in teaching and special education, Calvin will introduce families to co-regulation, sensory awareness, behavior as communication, and practical strategies that can be incorporated into everyday routines. What We'll Explore • During this two-hour seminar, we’ll explore: • what self-regulation is and how it develops • the role of co-regulation in helping children build regulation skills • helping children develop greater awareness of what is happening in their bodies The goal is to give families a stronger understanding of self-regulation alongside realistic tools they can adapt to their own children, routines, and needs. Who Is This For? This seminar is designed for parents, caregivers, homeschool families, and other adults supporting children who are interested in practical, neurodivergent-affirming and relationship-centered approaches to self-regulation. Families from public schools, independent schools, homeschool communities, and other learning environments are welcome. No previous knowledge of self-regulation or social-emotional learning is necessary. Registration This seminar is free to attend. A suggested $25 donation is welcomed from participants who are able to contribute. Donations support Calvin’s community education work and help make workshops like this accessible regardless of a family's ability to pay. A donation is never required to participate. About Calvin Eaton Calvin Eaton, M.S., is a Rochester-based disabled AuDHD teacher, researcher, and learning consultant whose work focuses on neurodivergent-affirming education, social-emotional learning, and nature- and play-based approaches to learning. He works with homeschool, homeschool-adjacent, independent school, and public school students and families. Eaton holds a Master of Science in Systems Administration from Rochester Institute of Technology and has more than 15 years of experience as a teacher working with children and learners across educational settings.
