Modest Film Society's Directing Workshop with Jeff Fong

Watch Jeff Fong direct actors live, adjusting performances and working through two different scenes with two sets of actors. Join filmmaker Jeff Fong for a hands-on workshop exploring what it actually looks like to direct actors on set. With more than 20 years of filmmaking experience, Jeff is an award-winning, Emmy-nominated filmmaker who has directed narrative films, documentaries, commercials, and productions ranging from intimate performances to large-scale sets. He is also the founder of The Film Squad and Modest Film Society. Rather than simply talking about directing, Jeff will work live with two actors on a scene, giving direction, making adjustments, and running the scene repeatedly so you can see firsthand how a director can shape a performance. After an intermission, two new actors will take on a different scene, allowing us to explore how the directing process changes with different performers and material. There will be opportunities for Q&A throughout the workshop, with light snacks and drinks provided.
