Sumi-e Ink Painting Workshop

Come learn about the history and create your own art of sumi-e with artist Kaori Fairbourn! Hailing from the Tang Dynasty all the way from China, moving east towards Korea and then making its way across the ocean to Japan, we give our upmost gratitude to the Zen Monks for keeping this particular art alive and transcending through time to now present. In this class we will learn how to look at each subject with contemplation and how to turn it into a simple form. We will learn how your brush strokes can represent your feelings, your observation, and how it can capture the spirit of what you are painting! Event is FREE for all Salt Lake JACL members; no one turned away for lack of funds. Suggested donation of $10 can be collected at event (Cash, PayPal, Venmo accepted). All supplies included and snacks and drinks will be provided as well. We have limited spots, so rsvp soon! If you can no longer attend, please cancel your ticket so someone else can come.
