Sweet Life: Baking Latin American Pan Dulce

Take a tour through Latin American sweet breads and take your baked goodies home! Hands-on. You’ll work in small teams during class. Age Restrictions For ages 13 & up Description Pan dulce translates to “sweet bread,” and this category of baked goods represents a blend of cultures and indigenous flavors crafted with Spanish techniques and European baking methods. In class you’ll get to mix, shape, fill, and bake your way through four iconic Latin American-inspired sweets with origins in Brazil, Cuba, and Mexico. Consider our class an invitation to explore rich baking traditions while learning the techniques behind the beloved sweets. Every family home has their version of pan dulce and you’ll learn how to incorporate ingredients to make the recipes your own, too. Whether you grew up with these flavors or are discovering them for the first time, you’ll leave with skills, recipes, and a little piece of Latin American heritage in your hands. At the end of class, you’ll get to sit down and enjoy your pan dulce with a hot cup of citrus, cinnamon, and clove–infused coffee, like the time-honored daily rituals that take place all over Latin America. You will be working in a small group. The best part? You’ll get to take home pan dulce to share. For ages 13 and up. Attendees not yet 17 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Each attendee must purchase a ticket.
