This level contextualizes and mobilizes the vocabulary learned in previous sections, situating it within the lived experiences and spiritual landscapes of the Ilocos region and the diaspora. Students will begin to see that the Ilokano language does not merely label the world—it shapes how one thinks, feels, and exists. This course is for those who wish not only to speak Ilokano but to manifest an Ilokano way of being-as-becoming. Agcaoili, PhD, serves as Chair of the Department of Indo-Pacific Languages and Literatures at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
