For filmmakers and dance film fans alike, this two-part masterclass series investigates one shared question: how does movement become story on screen? Hear from the sound team behind SO CLOSE and from filmmaker and choreographer Jacob Jonas about their approaches to the craft. Session 1: Sound Design of SO CLOSE (25 minutes) Skywalker Sound’s Shelley Roden (Foley Artist) and Pete Horner (Sound Designer and Mixer) join SO CLOSE Composer-Director Katy Jarzebowski for an in-depth look at their distinctly musical collaboration. The team breaks down their process, from spotting the rough cut to shaping the final mix, and shares behind-the-scenes clips from the foley stage to show how character-driven sound design gets made. Session 2: A Conversation with Jacob Jonas (60 minutes) Filmmaker and choreographer Jacob Jonas shares his journey and body of work, drawing on Films.Dance and other projects to talk through how he approaches movement and filmmaking, and the process behind creating and producing his work.
