Full description from organizer

Tashlich: A Ritual of Letting GoBerkeley Marina aka Cesar Chavez Park (precise location tbd, watch this space or register for updates) Wednesday September 15, 6.30 - 7.15pm Join Rabbi Rishe and your Chochmat community for an embodied ritual of transformation and letting go. Tashlich - Literally, "sending away" is an opportunity to release all regrets, mis-steps and "whoops" from our lives. Traditionally performed during the 10 Days of Returning, from Rosh Hashanah to Yom Kippur, at a fresh body of water. The endless waves offer us a chance to renew and start again. The fish in the waters represent the ever-watching eyes of the Divine. We will meditate, sing, chant, invoke the 13 Attributes of Divine Mercy, and share with our friends and community. We will shake it off, physically and spiritually. We will watch the sun set, and with it let go of our missed expectations from the past year. We release, let go and begin again. A Note Regarding Breadcrumbs: We know that many have a custom of throwing bread into the water. This is not Jewish law- it is a custom. In many communities, people simply shake their garments, or throw very miniscule bread or cracker crumbs, rather than large pieces of the bread that harm the fish and birds. Please respect our environment and the local laws of the park that do not permit feeding the wildlife. Accessibility: The park has ample parking with paved paths and ramps. We will be meeting along the shoreline in an area accessible via paved paths. There may be a 5-10 minute walk from the parking area. Please dress warmly in layers and be prepared for winds. We will send out a detailed location closer to the date.
