Full description from organizer

On Wednesday, October 21st, 1,000 of us are coming together for a moment of clarity and peace. The Sound Healing Symphony is the largest sound bath gathering in the country, bringing together world-class meditative musicians to guide you to a state of ease. If you have a hard time meditating, or feel like you can't "get there," give this a try. Most guests choose to lie down and receive the music like a sonic massage, though seated options are available as well. We're excited to come home to Grace Cathedral on Wednesday, October 21st. It's our last community gathering of the year. ~ ABOUT SOUND MEDITATION PRESENTS Sound Meditation Presents is a nonprofit on a mission to make the healing power of sound accessible to everyone, through immersive concerts, educational programs, and our sound bath app. Over the last ten years we've shared 188 performances with more than 60,000 people, and our dream next year is to go nationwide. Sound meditation (often known as "sound healing" or "sound baths") is the practice of listening to soothing sounds to reach profound states of clarity and relaxation. It opens up deep meditative states that are usually unreachable without considerable effort. You will come away with a clear mind and a deeper appreciation for the wonder of sound. We strongly recommend this event for people who have trouble meditating, or feel like they just "can't get there." Give this a try! ~ SCHEDULE Arrive as early as 7pm to hear Destiny Muhammad ushering in on Celtic harp. Our sound bath starts at 8pm and lasts for 75 minutes. ~ THE MUSICIANS Our symphony is conducted by Guy Douglas, and features an array of amazing and talented musicians on gongs, crystal singing bowls, Tibetan singing bowls, Native American flutes, didgeridoo, Celtic harp, monochord, vibraphone, and so much more. Guy Douglas (conductor, singing bowls & gongs) Guy Douglas, also known as "The Gong Guy," has been a sound healing practitioner and gong master for over 15 years. He has been involved with the healing power of music his whole life from a variety of perspectives: writing, recording, producing, and performing. He values a philosophy of music that helps clear dormant pathways to open the heart. As one of the executive directors of SMP, he's on a mission to share these sounds, particularly the gong. Destiny Muhammad (harp) Destiny Muhammad is a harpist, vocalist, and composer whose "Celtic to Coltrane" sound blends jazz, storytelling, and soulful exploration. Inspired by pioneering jazz harpists Dorothy Ashby and Alice Coltrane, she brings a rich, expressive voice to the harp. Elizabeth Byrd (cello) Elizabeth is a classically trained cellist who studied at Juilliard and performed with the Metropolitan Opera and the London Festival Orchestra. She went on to pioneer Tonal Vibration Therapy alongside Dr. John Upledger and founded the Academy of Cello Sound Healing, bringing the cello's low, full resonance into deep states of rest. Russell Feingold (didgeridoo & Native American flute) Russell is a shamanic sound healer, ceremonialist, and author of Heart Wisdom, with more than 25 years on the path of Peruvian Shamanism and over 30 years of experience in holistic healing, meditation, and energy medicine. Grounded in deep care for community and Pachamama, he is a cherished collaborator and board member of our new nonprofit. Sarah Glass (vocals) Sarah started classical piano lessons at the age of 3, and the first 7 years of her lessons were entirely dedicated to ear training. She's the founder of The Creation School of Music, with the goal of helping people of all ages (from infancy to old age) express themselves freely through music. Simona Asinovski (monolina & vibraphone) Simona Asinovski is one of the creative forces behind Sound Meditation Presents. As executive director, she's committed to sharing this practice of deep rest and restoration with as many people as possible. She's an event producer, multidisciplinary artist, and the author of The Sound Bath Coursebook. Xenia Giolli (gong) Xenia does sound baths for marginalized communities. She works at Lighthouse for the Blind and Seeing Impaired, and is a reiki master, an activist, and a pagan bruja. Elizabeth Kimble (crystal bowls) Elizabeth is a musician, psychotherapist, energy worker, and spiritual seeker. She is the Artistic Director of Musae, a treble choir based in San Francisco, and sings in several choirs throughout the Bay Area.
