Sacred Sand Mandala

Watch Namgyal Monastery monks create a traditional sand mandala at USC PAM, Nov. 4–7. Included with museum admission. Sacred Sand Mandala Wednesday, November 4–Saturday, November 7 | 2:00–5:00 p.m. USC Pacific Asia Museum is honored to welcome monks from the Namgyal Monastery Dharma Center for the creation of a traditional sand mandala. Over four days, the monks will carefully construct an intricate design using colored sand. Once completed, the mandala will be ceremonially dismantled, reflecting the Buddhist teaching that all material things are impermanent. Visitors are invited to observe the creation of the mandala during the museum hours of 2:00-5:00 PM. Viewing is included with the museum’s $15 general admission.
