Special Winter Workshop: ELIXIRS - A Healthy Foundation for the New Year

Sip, blend, and make your own medicinal herbal elixir while learning the traditional Chinese medicine theory behind the herbs in your glass. Spend an evening exploring the world of Chinese herbal medicine through taste, conversation, and hands-on medicine making. Chinese medicine has a beautifully nuanced way of understanding herbs. Rather than simply asking, “What is this herb good for?” we consider its flavor, temperature, movement, energetic qualities—and, most importantly, the person taking it. In this relaxed, social workshop, we'll explore how Chinese medicine uses herbs to nourish, restore, move, warm, cool, calm, and support balance in the body. You'll learn about concepts like Qi, Blood, Yin and Yang, the Five Elements, herbal energetics, and individual constitution without needing any previous knowledge of Chinese medicine. Make Your Own Herbal Elixir You'll choose from a selection of pre-formulated herbal elixir kits from Urban Herbs, with different blends designed around common constitutional patterns and wellness needs. We'll explore the formulas together and help you consider which blend may be the best fit for you. Then you'll prepare your own herbal elixir using the traditional process of alcohol infusion, learning how herbs can be transformed into a concentrated botanical preparation to continue infusing at home. And there's no need to sit around waiting for your turn! Tarot stations will be set up throughout the space so everyone can mingle, explore the cards, enjoy refreshments, and take turns making their elixirs. Come with a friend—or come on your own and meet some new people. You'll leave with: • Your own herbal elixir to take home.
