Disney’s Legend of Sleepy Hollow (1949) & Monster House (2006) · PG

A family-friendly double! Disney's Legend of Sleepy Hollow, followed by Monster House. A family-friendly addition to our Home for Horror Series: Disney’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (1949, 34 min. ) followed by Monster House (2006, 91min.) THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW – The Walt Disney Studios’ animated adaptation of Washington Irving’s tale — narrated and sung by Bing Crosby — remains one of the most enduring pieces of Sleepy Hollow storytelling ever made. In just 34 minutes, it captures Ichabod Crane’s arrival in the Hudson Valley, his rivalry with Brom Bones, and the fateful ride through the woods. Originally released as half of The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, this short precedes select family features throughout the series. This one is home movies for us — we’re proud to open our screenings with it. MONSTER HOUSE – A criminally underrated animated horror-comedy about three kids who realize the creaky old house across the street is not just haunted — it is alive, and it is very, very hungry. Executive produced by Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg, and one of the great gateway horror films for younger audiences. Its trick-or-treat set piece is instantly canonical. Genuinely scary in exactly the right doses.
