A City in the Forest | Seattle Screening + Discussion

A resistance movement rallies to defend Atlanta's urban forest from the construction of "Cop City," a massive police training facility. The Stop Cop City movement isn't just local history—it's a story that has reverberated worldwide and brought attention to a wave of interconnected construction and surveillance projects underway across the United States. Now, after an award-winning International Festival Tour, A City in the Forest is returning home. A City in the Forest is an intimate, collective portrait of the movement to Stop Cop City and defend the Weelaunee Forest. Masks Required. A Note on Safety, Media, and Privacy:This event celebrates a movement that has faced intense state repression. To keep our community safe, no unauthorized photography, video recording, or livestreaming is permitted inside the venues. Our official event documentarians will be capturing parts of the evening. If you prefer not to appear in any crowd footage or background photos, please let our door staff know when you arrive so we can respect your privacy. Why You Should Tell Everyone You Know About This: This moment is tender. It’s joyful. And it also hurts. To use the past tense when discussing this movement hurts. To relive the trauma of losing a friend hurts. But we can’t let that stop us from celebrating, growing, and sharing the lessons we are learning. We love you, and we can’t wait to see you there.
