The Light of Hope Returning

A Folk Oratorio for Winter Solstice Celebrate the season with The Light of Hope Returning: A Solstice Folk Oratorio by acclaimed composer Shawn Kirchner, with narration by award-winning author Susan Cooper. In this luminous marriage of solstice and Christmas imagery, poetry and music carry us from darkness toward light, reminding us of the hope that returns even on the longest night. Presented at Immanuel Congregational Church, UCC in Hartford, this extraordinary community collaboration brings together the Immanuel Chancel Choir, Canticum Novum, Choir Matrix, The Eastern Connecticut State University Chamber Singers and the E.O. Smith Chamber Singers, joined by featured instrumentalists and celebrated soloists Vijay Gupta, violin, and Jacob Jolliff, mandolin, with composer Shawn Kirchner at the piano. The piece will be co-conducted by Amanda Hanzlik, Meredith Neumann and Sarah Kaufold. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students, with proceeds benefiting Loaves & Fishes, Hands on Hartford, and Trinity Academy.
