Raymond Palidora will trace the history of cannabis use, unpacking common myths and misconceptions and explaining how its reputation has changed over time—from taboo substance to potential medicine. The lecture will then dive into modern cannabis science: how cannabis interacts with the body, what current research reveals about its medical applications, and what we actually know about its benefits and risks. Special emphasis will be placed on separating solid evidence from speculation, helping you understand where popular claims about cannabis may be getting ahead of the science. Raymond Palidora has worked in clinical cancer research for over a decade, with a growing focus on medical cannabis. He holds a Master’s degree in Medical Cannabis Science and Business from Thomas Jefferson University and is a doctoral student in Health Science at Jefferson. He oversees medical cannabis research within medical oncology and teaches the undergraduate medical cannabis course at Thomas Jefferson University.
