How Geoscience Australia conducts large scale analysis of Australia's changing landscapes, coasts, water resources and hazards. Monitoring Australia's Changing Environment from Space Geoscience Australia transforms satellite imagery into continental-scale, science-grade Earth observation data products and insights. This work supports better-informed decisions for national priorities such as resource management, agriculture, environmental monitoring, emergency preparedness and more. The presentation shows how Geoscience Australia leverages modern digital systems, cloud computing, the Open Data Cube and advanced geospatial analytics to enable large-scale analysis of Australia's changing landscapes, coasts, water resources and hazards. These capabilities are supporting emerging engineering applications and helping address complex environmental and infrastructure challenges. Speaker - James Miller, Manager Terrestrial Environments, Earth Analysis Branch, Geoscience Australia James leads projects that transform satellite imagery into Earth observation data, products and insights, this includes developing large-scale geospatial Earth observation products used by governments, industry and researchers. James holds degrees in Civil Engineering (Hons) and Commerce and has extensive experience in remote sensing, machine learning operations, data architecture and cloud computing. He has led the delivery of award-winning digital and geospatial platforms recognised at both state and national levels. Registration is free. Members and visitors are welcome.
