Learn practical techniques to write clear, concise government reports and communicate complex information effectively for decision-makers. Build your confidence writing clear, concise and professional government reports with this practical one-day workshop. Designed for people who prepare reports in government or the public sector, Writing for Government: Reports introduces the techniques you need to communicate complex information clearly and help decision-makers act with confidence. Through practical examples and guided activities, you’ll learn how to organise information, present findings effectively and tailor your writing for managers, executives and stakeholders. You’ll also develop techniques to improve the clarity, accuracy and impact of your reports. Whether you write reports regularly or want to strengthen your workplace writing, this course will give you practical skills you can apply immediately. You’ll leave better equipped to communicate with confidence, support informed decisions and achieve stronger workplace outcomes. This is a non-accredited short course. Eligibility and entry requirements To enrol in this course, you must be aged 17 years or older, and be one of the following: • an Australian citizen or permanent resident • a New Zealand citizen • the holder of a permanent humanitarian visa • an eligible temporary visa holder as defined in the CIT Admission and Enrolment Policy. • an employee of the ACT Government It is also recommended you complete the 'Writing for Government: Briefs' short course prior to enrolling. Delivery mode • Face-to-face course delivered on-campus (7 hours) What you will learn By the end of this course, you will be able to: • structure government reports clearly and logically • present complex information in a concise and accessible way • write reports that meet the needs of executive and stakeholder audiences • develop clear findings, recommendations and key messages • review and edit reports to improve clarity, accuracy and impact Who this course is for This course is suitable for professionals across government and public sector organisations who prepare reports, briefings or other written documents, including: • administrative and support staff • project and policy officers • executive assistants and coordinators • supervisors and emerging leaders • anyone responsible for preparing reports for managers, executives or stakeholders
