About this event

The NSW Department of Education and Northcott explore inclusive pathways into primary school.

Full description from organizer

Join the NSW Department of Education and Northcott as we explore inclusive pathways into school for all children. This session is for Child & Family and Early Childhood professionals Join us as Jennifer Bird, Support and Interagency Coordinator, and Samantha Cummings, Learning and Wellbeing Advisor from the NSW Department of Education, facilitate an informative and practical session on Supporting Positive Transitions to School. This engaging presentation will explore the range of supports available through the NSW Department of Education to assist children and families during the transition to school journey, particularly where additional support may be beneficial. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of how schools, families and community services can work together to promote successful transitions and positive educational outcomes for all children. Jennifer and Samantha will provide an overview of available supports, referral pathways and key processes, while sharing practical guidance on how services can support families to access the right assistance at the right time. The session will also highlight the importance of collaborative planning and early engagement to help children feel confident, included and ready to learn as they begin school. Julie McDonald from Northcott, NDIS Partner in the Community, will also provide a brief overview of Northcott's role in supporting children and families throughout the transition to school process. Julie will outline available supports, eligibility considerations, and how families and professionals can access and navigate referral pathways to connect with the most appropriate assistance. Whether you work directly with children and families, provide early intervention supports, or play a role in education, health or community services, this session will provide valuable insights into the transition to school process and the supports available through the NSW Department of Education and Northcott. Light refreshments will be provided. Contact Tom Pascall for any questions: [email protected]
