School holiday workshop: Draw yourself as an animal!

Imagine yourself as an animal in this creative drawing workshop! Inspired by the Of This Earth exhibition, join artist Emily Lloyd for a creative workshop exploring identity, connection and belonging. After viewing the exhibition, participants will begin by drawing a self-portrait, identifying their unique visual characteristics before merging them with those of a native Australian animal to create an imaginative hybrid being. If time permits, participants will have the opportunity to add colour and detail to their artwork using pastels. As a Wiradjuri person, storytelling is important to me, and I portray my narratives through painting and printmaking. Many of my works are guided by my emotions and lived experiences. Living with an emotional regulation disorder, I feel things more intensely and they shift from feeling to feeling a lot faster than others. My practice stems from what I am feeling, and painting helps me manage life's obstacles, whether it is shown as a symbolic piece or a painting for distraction. My art is me.
