Sunday Session: Air-dry clay botanical impressions

Celebrate Make and Create Week with a relaxing, hands-on workshop inspired by the beauty of the natural world. Emphasising process over outcome, participants will slow down, experiment, and enjoy the tactile experience of making with clay under the guidance of artist Tahlia Riley. Using air-dry clay and a collection of leaves, flowers and botanical specimens, you will explore simple hand-building techniques to create unique decorative tiles or hanging ornaments. Discover how nature can be used to imprint texture, pattern and form, resulting in beautiful organic pieces that reflect the season and your own creative expression. Suitable for beginners and experienced makers alike, this welcoming workshop provides an opportunity to connect, create and unwind in a supportive environment. You will leave with your own handcrafted botanical creations to take home once fully dried. About the artist: Tahlia Riley (b. 1992, Western Australia) is a mixed European and Aboriginal artist based on Awabakal Country, NSW. Working primarily with ceramics, her practice explores memory, storytelling, culture, and connection to Country. Tahlia holds a Diploma of Ceramics and has been a finalist in the Wynne Prize, Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize, Burwood Prize, Gosford Prize and MAC yapang Art Prize.
