Community Gardening

Community Gardening Community Gardening is a weekly gathering at SATORI EARTH — a space to work with the land, learn together and gradually develop the edible gardens here through observation, experimentation and shared care. At the heart of SATORI EARTH is an exploration of our Core Natural Design and Blueprint — understanding what becomes possible when we work with natural systems rather than continually trying to impose ourselves upon them. The garden offers a very practical place to explore this. We are learning what wants to grow here on this particular piece of land, in this subtropical climate and through its changing seasons — what thrives, what struggles, what feeds us, what feeds everything else, and how we can create a productive garden that works increasingly with its environment. This is not a finished permaculture garden being presented as something we have already mastered. It is a garden in development. There are established growing areas, new beds still waiting to be planted, problems to solve, things that work beautifully and things that don't. We will be exploring perennial edible planting, seasonal growing, soil health, composting, propagation, companion planting, pest management, water use, biodiversity and other regenerative and permaculture principles as the garden evolves. Sometimes we'll plant. Sometimes weed, mulch, propagate, prune, harvest or troubleshoot. Sometimes we may simply spend time observing what the garden is telling us. And we learn together. From time to time, experienced gardeners, growers, permaculture practitioners and other members of the SATORI EARTH community may also join us to share their knowledge. Community This is equally about people. Community Gardening creates a simple weekly rhythm for people to come together, put their hands in the soil, contribute to something living and connect with one another. We garden for an hour and then finish with afternoon tea together. Please bring a small plate to share. You do not need gardening or permaculture experience. Curiosity and a willingness to participate are enough. Sharing the harvest The SATORI EARTH garden operates on reciprocity. Those who contribute their time and care to the garden are welcome to share in its harvest. When produce is available, participants are welcome to take some home. We simply ask that harvesting is mindful — taking what you will genuinely use, leaving enough to share with others and recognising that some produce may be retained for the SATORI EARTH kitchen, events, seed collection or propagation. Please check with Nic before harvesting. The intention isn't to measure contribution against produce. It is much simpler than that: we contribute to the garden, care for it together and share in what it gives back. Weekly Community Gardening Thursdays: 
1:00pm–2:00pm — Gardening Afternoon tea afterwards SATORI EARTH | Palmwoods, Sunshine Coast First gathering: Thursday 8 October 2026 This first season will run weekly Garden Contribution $5 per person The weekly contribution helps towards the ongoing costs of the community garden — including seeds, seedlings, soil, compost and other garden materials. Please also bring: • Gardening gloves if you have them • Hat and sun protection • Enclosed shoes suitable for gardening • Water bottle • A small plate to share for afternoon tea From time to time, Community Gardening may include a guest facilitator, specialist or more structured workshop. Where an additional fee applies to a particular session, this will be clearly advised in advance. Come regularly, come occasionally, come because you know how to grow things — or come because you don't. We are learning what this land can become, together.
