Learn to DJ workshop at Mooloolaba Music

Start your journey into the world of DJing with the AlphaTheta “Learn to DJ Workshop”. These sessions build confidence, creativity, listening skills and technical know-how, while helping participants understand the building blocks of music, rhythm and frequencies. Best of all, it is a skill they can share with friends and family and keep developing long after the session ends. Who it’s for: The workshop is designed for total beginners. No prior DJ experience or music theory knowledge is required. Participants learn in a supportive group environment, with plenty of hands-on time with all equipment and music provided. Kids and Adults sessions available: There are various sessions available to cater for different age groups: KIDS DJ WORKSHOP: 10-17 years Designed for kids aged 10-17 years, The Kids workshop sessions are bookable as a 1 hour slot during business hours. Parents are welcome to stick around or participate if there are slots available (check Eventbrite page for available time slots on each day). Tuesday 29th September - 1 hour time slots available. Between 10.00am – 5.00pm (choose your time) * Please note the 5.30 session listed on this date is for the ADULTS DJ Workshop (18+). Wednesday 30th September - 1 hour time slots available. Between 10.00am – 3.00pm (choose your time) ADULTS DJ WORKSHOP: 18+ years For one night only!! Calling all parents, Guardians, young adults, and anyone curious about DJing. This session will cater for people at or above 18 years of age. This will be run as an open format Workshop. Limited to 20 slots. Light nibbles and non-alcholic drinks provided. Tuesday 29th September - From 5.30pm (session will run for 2 hours). NOTE - You will see the 5.30pm slot can be selected under the option for Tuesday 29th September. This is the ADULTS workshop session. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: Session content is tailored to the group, with a strong focus on helping every participant complete their first mix using Smart Fader. Participants will learn: • Key equipment features • How to select music and load tracks • How to control volume and faders confidently • Headphone cueing and internal monitoring • Musical timing basics, including BPM, counting beats and bars, and recognising song structure Sessions will also show you; how to perform EQ transitions; simple bass cuts and swaps; basic scratching using loops and samples; filters and FX; performance pads and Pad FX; plus guidance on streaming and where to find music. WHAT’S YOU WILL USE: (we bring everything): Participants learn on real AlphaTheta DJ gear, centred around the beginner-friendly DDJ-FLX2 controller. All equipment is supplied on site, including: • DJ controller (DDJ-FLX2) • Laptop running Rekordbox DJ Software (with music provided) • Headphones (HDJ-CUE1) • Speakers (Pioneer DM-40 studio monitors) WORKSHOP FORMAT: Each workshop includes four DJ setups delivered by Jands. A maximum of three participants share each setup, so everyone gets meaningful hands-on time with the DJ equipment. HOW WE TEACH: The learning style is designed to keep it enjoyable and encouraging and participants are given space to experiment and have fun. EXPERIENCED INSTRUCTORS: Workshops are delivered by professional DJs with 20+ years of DJ experience and 15+ years of teaching experience, supported by a valid Working with Children Check.
