About this event
Built in 1956, the Cooroy Lower Mill Site Kilns are the only surviving example of a timber-drying complex once common throughout South East Queensland during the post-war timber industry boom. The heritage-listed site retains its original boiler, steam engine, generator, control room, hopper and timber drying kilns, with many of the original belt drives and ventilation fans still in place.

Today, the kilns have a second life as the workshop of the Cooroora Woodworkers Club. Visitors can explore both the heritage precinct and the active workshop, seeing how this piece of Cooroy's industrial history continues to be used by local woodworkers. Closed-in footwear is required for all visitors.
